Monofilament synthetic fibers can be made into industrial textiles
with a narrow pore size distribution through a precision weaving
process. This process can produce fine plain weave fabrics with
pore sizes as small as 5 microns, with yarn and fabric thickness
tolerances controlled to ±10%.
The construction of plastic filter fabrics is mainly determined by
three factors: yarn type, yarn specification (fineness) and fabric
density (yarn count). Monofilament yarns are composed of a single
continuous filament and can form a relatively smooth surface. In a
plain weave structure, the straight-through pores formed by the
monofilament fabric minimize fluid resistance and particle
accumulation on the surface.
